Humidity Click is a compact add-on board used to sense the amount of water vapor in the air. This board features the HIH-5030, an analog output relative humidity sensor from Honeywell Sensing and Productivity Solutions. The HIH-5031 is a covered, condensation-resistant, integrated circuit humidity sensor that is factory-fitted with a hydrophobic filter allowing usage in many condensing environments. The RH sensor uses a laser-trimmed, thermoset polymer capacitive sensing element with on-chip integrated signal conditioning, providing enhanced stability, accuracy, and response time over the entire humidity range of 0%RH to 100%RH. However, the choice of signal processing is up to the user; more precisely, the user can process the output signal in analog or digital form. This Click board™ is suitable for industrial, medical, and commercial applications.
Humidity Click is supported by a mikroSDK compliant library, which includes functions that simplify software development. This Click board™ comes as a fully tested product, ready to be used on a system equipped with the mikroBUS™ socket.

Humidity Click as its foundation uses the HIH-5030, a high-performance analog-output relative humidity sensor from Honeywell Sensing and Productivity Solutions. The HIH-5030 surface-mounted, covered, condensation-resistant, integrated circuit humidity sensor factory-fitted with a hydrophobic filter allows usage in many condensing environments. It provides enhanced stability, accuracy, and response time over the entire humidity range of 0%RH to 100%RH with an accuracy of ±3%RH over a wide operating temperature range at the industry’s lowest power. This Click board™ is primarily developed for measuring the amount of water vapor in the air in industrial, medical, and commercial applications but can also be used in other application fields.
The sensing element's multi-layer construction provides enhanced resistance to most application hazards such as condensation, dust, dirt, oils, and common environmental chemicals. The sensor converts humidity value into an analog output signal; more precisely, the user can process the output signal in analog or digital form.
The output voltage of the HIH-5030 can be converted to a digital value using MCP3221, a successive approximation A/D converter with a 12-bit resolution from Microchip, using a 2-wire I2C compatible interface, or can be sent directly to an analog pin of the mikroBUS™ socket labeled as AN. Selection can be performed by onboard SMD jumper labeled as ADC SEL to an appropriate position marked as AN and I2C.
This Click board™ can operate with both 3.3V and 5V logic voltage levels selected via the VCC SEL jumper. This way, it is allowed for both 3.3V and 5V capable MCUs to use the communication lines properly. However, the Click board™ comes equipped with a library containing easy-to-use functions and an example code that can be used, as a reference, for further development.

We provide a library for the Humidity Click as well as a demo application (example), developed using MikroElektronika compilers. The demo can run on all the main MikroElektronika development boards.
Package can be downloaded/installed directly from NECTO Studio Package Manager(recommended way), downloaded from our LibStock™ or found on Mikroe github account.
Library Description
This library contains API for Humidity Click driver.
Key functions
humidity_read_voltage
This function reads raw ADC value and converts it to proportional voltage level.
humidity_voltage_to_rh
This function calculates relative humidity percents based on the voltage input.
humidity_drv_interface_selection
This function sets a serial driver interface which will be used further in the click driver.
Example Description
This example demonstrates the use of Humidity Click board™.
void application_task ( void )
{
float voltage = 0;
if ( HUMIDITY_OK == humidity_read_voltage ( &humidity, &voltage ) )
{
log_printf( &logger, " Relative Humidity [%%RH]: %.2frnn", humidity_voltage_to_rh( &humidity, voltage ) );
}
Delay_ms( 1000 );
}
The full application code, and ready to use projects can be installed directly from NECTO Studio Package Manager(recommended way), downloaded from our LibStock™ or found on Mikroe github account.

Additional notes and informations
Depending on the development board you are using, you may need USB UART click, USB UART 2 Click or RS232 Click to connect to your PC, for development systems with no UART to USB interface available on the board. UART terminal is available in all MikroElektronika compilers.
This Click board™ is supported with mikroSDK - MikroElektronika Software Development Kit. To ensure proper operation of mikroSDK compliant Click board™ demo applications, mikroSDK should be downloaded from the LibStock and installed for the compiler you are using.
For more information about mikroSDK, visit the official page.
NOTE: Please be advised that any peripheral devices or accessories shown connected to the Click board™ are not included in the package. Check their availability in our shop or in the YMAN section below.
