Calling all students with zero formal work experience: join our Interns’ Lab. You will work on challenging projects and have our most experienced engineers as mentors. It’s an opportunity to showcase your skills, and perhaps start a career.
We offer internships in software and hardware development, as well as sales and marketing. Apply in the form on the right, and we will contact you with further details.
At MikroElektronika’s HQ at the outskirts of Belgrade (30 minutes from city centre). Our entire business takes place under one roof – a rarity in the embedded electronics industry. You will brush shoulders with engineers who conceived and created the compilers and hardware you will work with on a daily basis. If you require hardware – we will produce it. Our production hall is a hallway across the Internship Lab.
You will pick a project to execute from start to finish. The point of the Interns’ lab is to allow you to apply the theoretical knowledge from University and gain valuable hands-on experience. To that end, a standalone project with a clearly defined outcome gives you the most opportunity to learn. You will face different problems at different phases of the project. You will get a sense of what you are good at, as well as what needs improvement. Everything will happen much faster then if you worked on your own, because you will have all the tools you need, plus support from your fellow interns and our mentors. Here are some projects that came out from our lab: Pedometer, Weather station, mikroBlocks.
Official office hours of MikroElektronika are from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with a mid-day break from 1:00 to 2:00 PM (employees use the break to relax on the porch overlooking a spacious lawn, to play table tennis, or to run our ride a stationery bike in our gym, all accessible to interns). You are not, however, bound by the official opening and closing time. If you are in the middle of a tough challenge, you are free to stay late into the night. Also, if you have some private commitments during the day, you are free to arrive later or leave earlier.
It’s not. Our laboratory is not a usual corporate internship program where interns are put to work within a department inside the company. Instead, it’s a place for acquiring technical expertise. Interns are shielded from usual office pressures. No short deadlines or impossibly long to-do lists. It doesn’t mean, however, that we don’t hire interns – quite the opposite.
Yes. Since we opened our Interns’ lab in the summer of 2014, we hired several people into various departments, and some of them went on to work on key projects. Our company grows at a rate of about 20% annually. Our plans are even more ambitious. We are always on the lookout for new talent. It may happen that we cancel your project and hire your right away. It happened before.
However long it takes to finish your project (although we don’t tolerate unjustified procrastination). There is also a possibility that you take on a new project once you finish the first one. We will figure things out as we go.
