KS0108 in 3.3v system

#1 Post by radiofm » 08 Nov 2007 20:31

Hello

Has anybody got experience with GLCD (KS0108) in 3.3v system ?
I want to use in my project this GLCD with pic18f67j60 but probably i need a level conventer ( 5V <--> 3.3V) like max3002 or maybe anybody have other solution ?

Regards
Robert

The GLCD will probably need 5V to run and to drive the LCD screen (Vee). You can't damage a 5V GLCD with 3.3V logic signals. It is also possible that the GLCD can read the 3.3V microcontroller logic signals correctly.

- You must provide 5V for driving the LCD.

- Logic levels should not be the problem.

hello

i found solution at this board manual
http://www.mikroe.com/en/tools/lv24-33/

yes - probably it can work without any level transators.
i try my board in next week.

thanks for the help !!!

The GLCD that comes with the LV board works fine. Others are probably fine too, but no guarantees, as there are several KS workalike chips on the market. And as was said earlier, you still need 5v for the main supply.
If you know what you're doing, you're not learning anything.
