Ozone Click is a compact add-on board that can add ozone detection and concentration monitoring to your application. This board features the MiCS-2614, a compact MOS sensor from SGX Sensortech. It is a robust MEMS sensor that works in harsh environments with a detection range from 10 to 1000 ppb. The Ozone sensors’ output is an analog voltage; thus, this Click board™ is equipped with the MCP3201, a 12-bit A/D converter with SPI serial interface from Microchip, for a more precise resolution. This Click board™ makes the perfect solution for developing applications used to measure or detect O3 gas concentrations in the atmosphere, for small testing equipment development, various warning systems for air-quality/ozone pollution, and other similar applications for ozone concentration detection and monitoring.
Ozone Click is supported by a mikroSDK compliant library, which includes functions that simplify software development. This Click board™ comes as a fully tested product, ready to be used on a system equipped with the mikroBUS™ socket.

Ozone Click is based on the MiCS-2614, a compact MOS sensor from SGX Sensortech. The MiCS-2614 comprises a micromachined diaphragm with an embedded heating resistor and a sensing layer on top. The sensor obtains the right temperature on the heater while using a single 5V power supply. With an onboard limiting resistor, the resulting voltage is typically 2.35V. This leads to a small amount of time needed for the sensor to get heated, so the correct values of the measurements can be obtained. The voltage measured on the load resistor is directly linked to the resistance of the sensor respectively. In other words, the sensor output is measured over the standard voltage divider configuration.
The MiCS-2614 sensor's output feeds the positive single analog pseudo-differential input of the MCP3201 analog-to-digital converter. This 12-bit ADC allows the host MCU to read more precise data from the sensor. The Ozone Click uses an SPI serial interface from the MCP3201 over the mikroBUS™ socket to communicate with the host MCU. The SPI modes 0,0, and 1,1 are supported with sampling rates of up to 100ksps at a clock rate of 1.6MHz.
This Click board™ can only be operated with a 5V logic voltage level. The board must perform appropriate logic voltage level conversion before using MCUs with different logic levels. However, the Click board™ comes equipped with a library containing functions and an example code that can be used, as a reference, for further development.
