Please for the love of Pete update the IDE.

I've been cheating on you. I've been stepping out and using other IDEs and compilers, but I'm back and have a few suggestions.

I love the library features. So easy.
Love the custom panels and tools.
Really enjoy the additional tools.

But.....

It really needs:

SVN plugin
Better screen size scaling support ( icons sure get small with our new high dpi monitors )
Templates ( I'd really like project templates, would save people a lot of time, "Hey, I'm going to load up a project on the EasyMxPro.... oh wait, I have to start from scratch each time!" )
Code scrapes or fragments ( drag and drop would be helpful there, I really love typing the same things over and over between projects )

I know, these are just cosmetic and would be fairly easy to implement, but after you work on it for months on end, you start getting jealous of a few of your friends.

Overall, I'm happy with the product and commend you on the direction. I'm not a fan of eclipse based IDE's or their following, but I do wish for a few more productivity tools.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your suggestions.

We are trying to provide the examples for every development board in order to our users have some starting point for their projects.
Templates and Code scrapes or fragments are good ideas,
but it is a big job in order to provide templates for all our compilers (and supported controllers).
We will certainly consider that ideas.

Please, can you explain me a little bit more problem that you have with screen size scaling?

Best regards,
Marina

Reading my title that seems a little harsh.

Your company does an outstanding job. A few frustrations I have are easily justifiable given the niche of the products we use for embedded development.

You do have a lot of work maintaining all the libraries for sure. Wish they were a little more open, you could extract a tremendous amount of productivity from the community if you would.

The issue with icons and fonts happens with Windows 8. Since the IDE doesn't support high DPI users are required to use the "Disable displat scaling on high DPI setttings" selection in the compatibility settings of the application. Not a huge issue now, but as Windows 8 gain momentum the use of the IDE might become a little less pleasant. The issue with disabling high DPI scaling is that the test and icons become fuzzy and not anywhere near as clear.

Biggest on my wish list would be:

SVN and code diff capability
Code snippets

Overall, you are doing a great job and looking forward to the new ideas coming.

Hi,

We are aware of issue with icons and fonts on Windows 8 platform
and we are trying to correct that behavior as soon as possible,
especially as Windows 8 gain momentum, like you already mention.

SVN and code diff capability is a very good suggestions,
but at this moment due to lack of people and time, it is not on our list of priorities.
Although we certainly consider that options.

Once again, thank you very much for your suggestions and kind words.
Your suggestions and pointing out the errors are very important to us,
certainly contributes to the development of our products.

Best regards,
Marina

I know what I am about to write is not ideal but it is an option...

you can use SVN (I do) manually to keep track of your code versions.

http://tortoisesvn.net/

with winmerge and you should never have to worry about "what change did I make" that broke my code!

http://winmerge.org/

you may already be doing this, but just in case some other readers don't know about these options.
Best Regards

I do just as you suggest, but would appreciate it integrated.

IDE is fine, but as other IDEs wish to be central to team development, SVN / GIT / etc. integration is something that is used constantly. I'm wondering what MikroE uses for their team development?

Hi,

Indeed some kind of SVN integrated in IDE is very good idea,
and like I already mention we will certainly consider to implement it in our compilers.

We use control version application for our team developing.

Best regards,
Marina
