Preferred RTC and Temp sensor

#1 Post by bimbla » 16 Jan 2005 02:00

What are the most preferred RTC and Temp sensor for use on a trainer board?

Could anyone suggers a SPI target device for inclusion on trainer board?

Thanks in advance.

We use DS18S20 ( one wire communication) and PCF8583 (I2C) as RTC .

There are also some analog temperature sensors, which are considerably cheaper than the DS18S20. National semiconductor makes several which are linear output (much easier to use than thermistor). One model is the LM35. These will connect directly to an analog input, though the signal levels are typically less than 1V (10mv/C). The temperature resolution is still as good as DS18S20.
