How does it work?
ETH WIZ Click is based on the W5500, a fully-featured high-performance 10/100 Ethernet controller from WIZnet designed for embedded applications where performance and flexibility are required. The W5500 module employs a variety of solutions to reduce the target MCU’s memory load and enable a stable and secure Internet connection. High-speed network communications are realized through a serial interface in variable-length data mode configuration. The module has 32KB of internal memory for TX/RX buffers, where each block is register-configurable. Reduced power consumption is achieved with Wake on LAN and power-down modes. Automatic handshaking, retransmitting on collision, and automatic rejection of erroneous packets are also supported. The W5500 also supports HP Auto-MDIX, allowing direct connections or cross-over LAN cables on the onboard RJ-45 connector.

This Click board™ communicates with the target MCU using an SPI/QSPI serial interface with a clock rate of up to 80MHz, supporting the most common SPI modes, SPI Mode 0 and 3. Besides, it has three PMODE0-2 selectable jumpers for selecting the PHY network operating mode. As a default, they are populated with 0-ohm resistors at position 1, which means both 10BASE-T and 100BASE-Tfull/Half-duplex capable, and Auto-negotiation enabled.
This ETH Wiz Click can reset the W5500 through a hardware reset pin labeled RST and also provides a programmable interrupt feature on the INT pin used for some features like Wake on LAN. From the RJ-45 sides, two LEDs labeled LINK STAT and CRS stands for visual network status indicators: Link and Transimission indicators.
This Click board™ can be operated only with a 3.3V logic voltage level. The board must perform appropriate logic voltage level conversion before using MCUs with different logic levels.
