We are expanding our range of "sniffing" click boards with Ozone click.
Ozone gas (O3) can be good and bad. In the atmosphere, good Ozone protects us from the Sun's harmful UV rays. In industrial processes, good Ozone is used as a powerful sterilizing agent.
But inhaling even small amounts of Ozone can be harmful. To protect our health many countries have set an exposure limit of 100 ppb (parts per billion).
That number falls into the lower limit of Ozone click's detecting range. The small (5 x 7 x 1.55mm) MEMS sensor detects O3 gas in air in concentrations from 10 to 1000 ppb.
These sensors are typically used to detect 03 leaks. It can also be used as part of a larger system to measure and control the air quality. The tricky part is that Ozone has a short half-life. At room temperature it will naturally break down into oxygen in about 20-30 minutes. You need to be careful when setting up your system.
The sensor itself outputs an analog signal, but it passes through the onboard 12-bit ADC before coming out through the click's SPI pins.
