EasyPic5 x PICFlash with mikroICD

#1 Post by Mancrius » 25 Jul 2008 14:58

Hi,

I'm going to buy a programmer and I'd like an oppinion:

With the EasyPic5 I can program the uCs and test a lot of functions and debug.

With the PICFlash I can program the uCs and run a debug.

I'm thinking that U$40 plus for a EasyPIC is a good choice... don't you ?

I'd like your oppinion....

If you buy EasyPic5 then you do not need anything else.
EasyPic5 contains programmer and debugger + it is development board... So it is 3 in 1.

Personally, I program external PICs by pluging them in their specified socket so it works as extranal programmer as well...

So with EasyPic5 you get intergrated system:
1. Programmer
2. debugger
3. Development Hardware.
What else?
I am just afraid that EasyPic5 can wash your clothes as well

:D :D :D

Ps. the above is not commercial advertisement, but from honesty point of view, I would say the truth... I am now fresh R&D engineer and I am happy and comfortable with EasyPic4

If you are mostly going to experiment and enventually build one or two devices, then EasyPic5 should be your choice.

If you're going to manufacture many PIC-based devices or use processors in other than DIP enclosures, you'll need PICFlash.

Agree

Himmm, not really, you still can play around... for example, I have invented my own connector to work as ICSP and here is a picture for it (it is very simple):

And here it is plugged in my EasyPIC4 and Flashing my cat with new firmware so she will not annoy me when I am coding (I just truned her Interrupt off) :D

Hey, post your code and let's know what kind of cat you have.. I meant PIC you have :)

My cat after flashing looks like this:

Have we converted the forum to cats forum instead of PICs

I bought the easyPIC5... Hope arrives soon !!!! :)

Here in my job is impossible to open some pics stored on some servers, so I didnt see the pics on this topic...

Just one question... If i need to burn a lot of devices, isnt a good idea to connect a ZIP socket on the board socket ?

thanks all!!!

yes it is. Actually, if you are planning to burn too many then you have two possibilities:
1. Flash the controllers using standard programmer (which is the same solution as the Development board can do)

2. Buy the controllers directly from Microchip and give them the HEX file and they will supply you the controllers flashed for you. But I guess this required high volume of controllers (but anyway you can check that from their website).

Okay.... this jumper goes from RC2 to RA4.

Enough programming for me today.

XOR, I guess we should make our proverb:
"Most of the powerful programming stands behind them a CAT" :)

Hi,

Here is my 5 cents for ICSP Adaptor.

You can plug one part on Dip connector, other part on your dev board. The second part receive Pic and with 3 switch buttons you select : Pic <-> EasyPic board.

I think mE should make a adaptor that plugs into one of the dip sockets (doesn't matter which one) and has a standard ICD2 plug on it. BTW, I don't have a easyPic (I have a LV24-33), but I still think it is a good idea (got lots of friends with easyPics and they are all jealous of my ICD2 plug :D
