Microcontroller view
It would be nice to be able to see a simple view of the selected processor while in software simulation that shows pins lighting up or going out based on simulated output. Another feature that would be nice is to add a button next to each pin configured as an input to simulate button presses or even analog voltages.

No, bad idea to consider this request. I believe the mE team should concentrate in making the compiler the best it can be (like fixing the optimizer... hint hint) vs. adding simulation features as requested. Leave that to others who do it well already.

You want to simulate uProcessor ports blinking, button pushes and more, then I suggest looking into a Proteus VSM license from Labcenter Electronics.
