This is one of many requests (though perhaps one of the earliest) from various topics dotted throughout the forum enquiring about the state of development for a USB library for mikro(x) for AVR.

This particulary request never received a reply but the reply for those that did, almost without exception, is that 'it's been passed to the developers' or 'it's on the wishlist' or 'we can't give a specific timescale', etc. etc.

The request (and tacit promises) for a USB library is almost coming up for its 6th birthday. After 6 years one begins to wonder if it's either too difficult or the lowest of the lowest of priorities.

Why not just make a statement that a USB library for the AVR compilers is never going to be released, that people should just use the Arduino IDE (ugh) which has had USB support for 4 or 5 years now, or Atmel's Studio 7 compiler.

The latest Flip & Click board's compatibility with the Arduino IDE makes it clear that MikroElektronika's focus is now on hardware, and that mikro(x) compiler for AVR is all-but dead library development-wise.

Another thought, if source code for a USB library for AVR exists (in whatever unfinished state) but has been mothballed why not post the source code as it stands on Libstock and allow someone else to finish it? Mikroelektronika would benefit, so would your existing compiler customers, and you may even sell more copies in the process?

Hello,

unfortunately, I don't have any official information about it.

But I can assure you that we are trying to keep up with the all the market requests. We do forward everything you ask for to our developers, and they consider everything.
The idea about putting out the library is not our policy, because as you are aware our libraries are still not open source.

Kind regards,
Biljana
