Adding new microcontroller

#1 Post by ramuji » 20 Jun 2023 04:20

Hi mikroe team,

Is it possible to add new microcontroller based on 8051 core in mikrobasic comniler? If it is possible with header file, then may i get an example of header file syntax so i can create a header file for my specific microcontroller. The microcontroller i am mentioning here is from megawin company.

regards

Hi,

I'm afraid that MCU definition files are not open source, so it would be very hard to this on your own.

Hi, thank you very much for your reply. I know there may be some reasons for not releasing the definition files in open source domain, but as new microcontrollers are being manufactured based on 8051, there is a need to support them by mikroe. Although, its not possible for mikroe team to implement and support all the new microcontrollers, but at least they should release the structure with example of definition file so the users can make the definition files and add the microcontrollers themselves.

Hi,

This was the company's decision at the time, I will speak to our managers to see if we can open the files.

Filip.
