Converting Rs232 Signal to Analog Signal using 4-20mA Sensor

#1 Post by bert92 » 06 Apr 2018 11:23

Hey Folks
I am thinking about the project I am using RS232 port of laptop interface with 4-20mA devices basically i wanted to convert Digital input to Analog output and then use that output with 4-20mA devices is it possible ??

Do You wish to use 4-20mA as communication protocol ? or do You wish to have a DAC with analog 4-20mA output ?
every 4-20mA parts I have seen are rather slow, so communication would be like snailmail speed. If You wish to control some devices, then there is allready a click board for that.

Are you talking about a HART interface? This is basically a modem that converts between RS232 and an AC signal that can be sent over a 4-20mA circuit.
