cable to extend placement of a click aways from the board

Sometimes, having a click board on the board itself may not be the ideal solution. User may want to have the click (sensor..) away from the board, simply sometimes to be able to fix it on a frame as an example. The gadgeteer solution from GHI was offering this kind of solution but it is not supported anymore.
It may be a good option to provide a special extension cable. One side of the cable would be plugged in the board, the other side of the cable would have a support for a click and 4 holes that would allow the click to the attached somewhere.
What do you think ?
