CODEGRIP EasyPIC v8 no DEBUG tools/optins

#1 Post by blysynski » 07 Nov 2022 19:56

There are no DEBUG (SWO) tools or options available; am I missing a setting to turn it on somewhere?
Am I looking in the wrong place?
Or are they just not available? HELP!

Hi,

There is no SWO support for Microchip PIC family I'm afraid.

Regards,
Filip.

Hi Filip

Then how do I use CODEGRIP to debug? or did I just purchase a piece of hardware that doesn't do anything?

Hi,

Can you tell which compiler/IDE are you using ? The CODEGRIP won't debug on it's own, the debug must be run from a compiler.

Regards,
Filip.

Hi Filip

mikroBasic for PIC. I have CODEGRIP set as a tool but it has problems too, it can't connect to the device (using EasyPIC v8) but does when I run CODEGRIP standalone.

I also just purchased a standalone CODEGRIP module; I don't have it yet, it's on the way

Hi,

In order to use CODEGRIP directly from PRO compilers, you have to downgrade the firmware version to 1.3.0 for now (this should be addressed some time in the future).
Download the CODEGRIP Suite from the following link: http://help.mikroe.com/CODEGRIP%20Suite ... -win64.zip
Disable your internet connection before starting the installer (important, otherwise it's just going to download the newest version).
After you've installed 1.3.0 CODEGRIP Suite, go to Help > Updates > CODEGRIP and perform the firmware upgrade. This will make it so that your firmware version inside your programmer is 1.3.0 as well.

Also, please copy the DLL from the attachment to the mikroBasic PRO for PIC installation folder (replace the existing one).

Regards,
Filip.

Thanks for the links, it looks like that did it.

Where can I find a manual for the debugger? The in-line help doesn't have a lot of detail.
