Hi,
This is my first time with any Mikro hardware and software.
I have bought the MikroC AVR compiler and Visual TFT software.
I plug the mikromedia into the USB port and it lights up showing the fish.
I have loaded and compiled the controls_demonstration software.
When I start the mikroBootloader from the Tools menu, it defaults to COM1 and 9600 baud. I change this to the correct com port and set the baudrate to 115200 as per screen shots in the manual.
Pressing the Connect button flashes the Conn light on the screen, says waiting for MCU response, then Disconnected.
Nothing happens on the mikromedia. The Rx/Tx on the PCB does not flash at all.
If I use a separate comms program like HyperTerminal and send 5555 at 300baud, I can see the LED on the PCB flashing.
Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Neil.

Re: Cannot get mikroBootloader to talk to mikromedia for XME
Hello,
Before we go further in your issue, I will post the link to the bootloader manual. Try following these steps (the order of doing things is important) and if you still have troubles after that, we can continue with the discussion.

Re: Cannot get mikroBootloader to talk to mikromedia for XMEGA
Hi,
I have the same problem with a mikroMedia XMEGA board. I followed the steps from the user manual and the mikroBootloader always disconnected it. I attached two figures to notice the message from bootloader and also that COM5 is the appropriate COM port (I do not have any other device connected). Any insights on this?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Welcome to the MikroE forum.
Press the Reset button on mikromedia for XMEGA board and click the Connect button within 5s, otherwise, the existing microcontroller program will run.
Have you checked in UART Terminal whether the MCU sends initial data on UART Tx upon reset? Make sure to select the proper COM port and Baud Rate.
Kind regards,

Hi,
Advice: Press the Reset button on mikromedia for XMEGA board and click the Connect button within 5s.
Answer: Yes, I have done that and nothing.
Advice: Have you checked in UART Terminal whether the MCU sends initial data on UART Tx upon reset?
Answer: I have checked this and the MCU does not send initial data upon reset.
I also tried with the Mikroelektronika Usart Terminal, it is possible to connect to COM5 and the board remains connected. I press the reset button while connected
to the USART terminal and the MCU did not send data upon reset.
Advice: Make sure to select the proper COM port and Baud Rate.
Answer: COM port is ok. It is COM5 as shown in previous images. Baud Rate is 115200 as suggested in the User Manual. Furthermore, the MikroXMEGA and XMEGA-Ready
Bootloader program does not allow to change to other value. By default it is set to 115200.
Any other advice and insights? I am also willing to program the mikroXMEGA board with an external programmer (I own the mikroProg for AVR) because i do not know what else to do. Any additional information about this?
Thanks in advance

Re: Cannot get mikroBootloader to talk to mikromedia for XMEGA
Hi,
It seems the bootloader in your mikroXMEGA board is somehow corrupted or erased, I'm afraid.
Unfortunately, mikroProg for AVR doesn't support XMEGA MCUs. Do you have any external programmer that supports ATXmega128A1 to reprogram the board with a bootloader hex file?
Kind regards,

Hi,
I do not have any programmer that supports ATXMEGA128A1. Can you provide me with another mikroMedia for XMEGA target?
Thanks in advance
