EasyPIC v7 firmware update

#1 Post by Momboz » 16 Jan 2017 22:21

Hi

I would like to use my EasyPIC v7 with the PIC18F27K40 and I am asking when this update will be available and how to monitor its availability (or to know about it, so to say).

Thank you.

To be honest, for last few days i am struggling a lot to use my EasyPIC V7 board to program and use the PIC18F26K42 (and i would like to use 18F26K80 too in some days) but without success, the present version of the mikroProg Suite i use is 2.90 and the present version of the firmware is V1.11.11.1, i somehow managed to upgrade the firmware to V1.16.12.21, and for my surprise this upgrade worked too, i mean i was able to download the hex file but later i noticed problems with EEPROM data, which was not written in the chip like before upgrading the firmware, in my projects i always write some values in the EEPROM so the chip is ready to use once the hex file is loaded in the chip, but something is going wrong with this upgrade.

Kindly help me to understand which version i shall need to upgrade so i will be able to use the PIC18F26K42 and PIC18F26K80 chips, and most important where can i find that version of firmware.

Thank you, hear you soon.

Regards
Abhi

Hi,

The most recent version of the firmware should be just fine.

Do you get any errors during programming ?

Regards,
Filip.

Hi,

The most up to date FW version is V1.16.12.21, you can upgrade to it from the mikroProg Suite version 2.90.

Filip.

Hello! Filip

Thanks for this information, fortunately i could upgrade to this version V1.16.12.21, few days back, i mean the upgradation process was carried out well and later i was able to WRITE the loaded *.hex file too in the chip, but every time i noticed the DATA in the EEPROM was not loaded when i load the Hex file from any location.

Before upgrading the firmware every time the DATA in the EEPROM was loading as well displaying too, but after upgrading to V1.16.12.21 the EEPROM Data was not loading nor displaying, it was displaying FF FF FF in all the locations.

Can you explain what could have gone wrong.

Thank you.

Hi,

Are you writing to the EEPROM from the code or directly from the mikroProg Suite application ?

Filip.

Hello! Filip

Yes indeed i write the values for the EEPROM's in the program itself.

I am facing the EEPROM problem since the firmware upgrade, as in the past (i mean before upgrade) always the data/values i write in the EEPROM always stayed in the *.hex file and were written in the chip too those values were shown when i press the DATA button in the suite also.

Just for your information, if i was doing something wrong in the settings then the same mistake should have occurred when i write the *.hex file to the chip using PICKit3 but in this case the EEPROM values stay.

The reason behind requesting you to help me in solving this issue is, i don't want to use PICKit3 to write the *.hex file, it is very inconvenient i want to use suite only to write the *.hex file.

Thank you.

Hi,

I'm not sure this is related to the firmware, I think this is something with the EEPROM library from the compiler.
Which version of the compiler are you using ?
Have you been using multiple versions lately ?

Regards,
Filip.
