PIC18F13K50 and mikroProg --> USB/ICSP question

#1 Post by phil31 » 23 May 2012 15:54

Hi all,

i plan to use the PIC18F13K50 and his USB module.

i see that the 2 USB pins (D+ and D-) are shared with the PGC/PGD functions.

==> does it mean that we can't program the chip when the chip is plugg on the USB bus of the PC ?

if yes, we need an external power supply or use the mikroProg to power up the board ?

thanks for any reply, regards
Phil

Hello,

even if you could, you probably shouldn't use mikroProg while USB communication is active.

You can use mikroProg to power your board.

In mikroProg Suite open MCU INFO part of the window.
In Voltage options section you can see check box "Power board from programmer".
Be careful with setting correct voltage for you board.

Best regards.

Hello,

Maximum current that mikroProg can provide is limited by USB port.
This is usually 500mA.

Best regards.
