Dear colleagues,
I have written a mikroBasic program for PIC16LF1554 and the compiler worked properly (mikroBasic Pro V7.2.0). But now I tried to write the code to the PIC by using mikroProg (mikroProg Suite for PIC V2.8 / firmware v2.11) but mikroProg don't know this PIC and is not able to write the code. What shall I do?
Thank you for your support!

Hi Martin,
Welcome to the mikroE forum.
Unfortunately, PIC16LF1554/1559 MCUs have not supported by mikroProg yet.
I've forwarded a request for adding support for these MCUs to our developers.
I hope that they will add it as soon as possible, until then, you are not able to program this MCU via mikroProg.
Kind regards,

Dear Stefan,
Thank you for the fast but not pleasant answer. We are in a scientific project and have "time pressure". Is there a (temporary) workaround to fix this problem (use of another PIC for the device settings in mikroProg Suite)? The very special function of PIC16LF1554 we use is the hardware I2C-bus with SDA on pin 9 (RC1) and SCL on pin 10 (RC0).
Thank you for your support and best wishes

Hi Martin,
Unfortunately, there is no workaround for this. Currently, it is not possible to program this MCU with mikroProg.
Here you can find the list of supported MCUs for the latest mikroProg firmware.

Almost every PIC micro do have hardware I2C-bus are you sure only this specific micro fit your needs?

Dear Stefan,
Thanks for the answer. It was an "unexpected error" that mikroBasic supports the device and mikroProg not. Now as a workaround we use temporary PIC16LF15323. I hope a future release of mikroProg will support the device.
Dear Serge,
There are more reasons to use the selected PIC. I'm working with PICs since 1991 and I know "my" PICs...
Best wishes to you all!

Hi, I've been developing professionally for several hours for this device and have now surprisingly run into this snag also - do you have a time-frame for adding this device to mikroProg?stefan.filipovic wrote:Hi Martin,

Hi,
Unfortunately, I have no information about the time-frame of adding support for this family.
It's in the to-do list, and we will try to do it as soon as possible, now it has a higher priority for sure.
Thank you for your patience.

I now have PCB's in my possession that have this MCU installed and they are for pre-production review and are therefore urgent. There is no other option at this point other than I need programming support. Is there any update Stefan? If not, can you suggest another workaround other than a different MCU? I.E. do you have any hardware capable of programming them or suggest another manufacturer? Thanks.

Re: Programming PIC16LF1554/1559
Hi,
Unfortunately, there's no update for this yet.
You can use every programmer that supports this family of MCUs and intel hex files programming to program your MCU.
For now, I suggest you try with this programmer. You should be able to program the MCU with the hex file generated in mikroBasic PRO for PIC with this programmer, but unfortunately, you won't be able to debug the code.
