What a mess this update 4.0!

#1 Post by phil31 » 18 Jul 2017 17:51

Wait so long for that !!
It's not complicated, NOTHING new for PASCAL and BASIC users !

Aligned type and variable attribute added (mikroC only)
Packed type and variable attribute added (mikroC only)
FreeRTOS support implemented. (mikroC only)
Added indfuncall directive. (mikroC only)
Initializer of local variables can be variable expression (mikroC only)
Code Generator unaligned access supported (LWL, LWR instructions) (mikroC only)

PIC32MM long time annouced and finnaly removed from the list of new parts !

and "Key file license is now obsolete" .. what is the new procedure please ?

Hi,
Wait so long for that !!
It's not complicated, NOTHING new for PASCAL and BASIC users !
I am sorry if you feel this way, but there is a bunch of new things for Pascal and Basic compiler, as written on the roadmap :
https://shop.mikroe.com/mikrobasic-pic32
https://shop.mikroe.com/mikropascal-pic32

For instance, hardware 64-bit floating point for EF family is support in both Pascal and Basic.
Aligned type and variable attribute added (mikroC only)
Packed type and variable attribute added (mikroC only)
FreeRTOS support implemented. (mikroC only)
Added indfuncall directive. (mikroC only)
Initializer of local variables can be variable expression (mikroC only)
Code Generator unaligned access supported (LWL, LWR instructions) (mikroC only)
These are all related to the FreeRTOS support in the mikroC, this is why these things are not implemented in the Pascal and Basic.
and "Key file license is now obsolete" .. what is the new procedure please ?
Please, open a ticket on our HelpDesk (http://helpdesk.mikroe.com/) and we will issue you a new license code for your compiler.

Regards,
Filip.

as you say "These are all related to the FreeRTOS support in the mikroC, this is why these things are not implemented in the Pascal and Basic."
so only "hardware 64-bit floating point for EF family" is really new, all others points are "fixed bugs" !
from y side of view, VTFT include in compiler is not a new feature !

what are these new parts :
P32MX270F256DB, 450F256HB and 470F512LB ?
can't find this parts on microchip.com !

Hi,
what are these new parts :
P32MX270F256DB, 450F256HB and 470F512LB ?
can't find this parts on microchip.com !
These PIC32 devices are targeted to specific audio software packages that are tracked for licensing royalty purposes.
All peripherals and electrical characteristics are identical to their corresponding base part numbers.

You may find the datasheets here :
http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/D ... 01168J.pdf, TABLE 2, page 3;
http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/D ... 01185F.pdf, TABLE 1, page 2;

Filip.

oh yes !.. lol so Nobody (up to small company) can order these parts and all characteristics are same to their corresponding base part numbers ...
so for Mikroe, simply a copy of definition file, not really something new !

Hi,

Well, if a user wants to use these parts, he can select them in the compiler.
These parts weren't in the compiler before this release, so they are new.

Filip.

hi

no these are not new parts !.. these are exactly same parts, as Microchip say it ..
the simple difference is that you, me and surely 99% of your customers, can't order it !
a simple copy/past of a definition file is not really (from my side of view) a new part in the list ..

but MM series, yes we can order it .. but you remove it from the original list ..

anyway, really frustrated by this update !

There is a long list of changes on the PIC32 Roadmap page, most of which is not MikroC only. There are 38 new devices supported and they are all there on Microchip's website. There is plenty to criticise about their compilers but don't say there is nothing for MB and MP users, you're just whining.

that's not my point of view !
yes some news MZ parts .. but the list seem again modified about the MX series .. only the 32MX130F256B right now !!

for others stuffs, "improved" or "fixed", for me, that is not new features !

just the 3 first lines of "IDE :
- Visual TFT integrated into compiler IDE
- Design, Code, Compile, Debug, Program… All from one place
- Simple and fast switch between design and coding

==> 3 lines for the same thing !
