First Look

#1 Post by Mince-n-Tatties » 03 Feb 2011 11:47

Hi mikroE team, looks great. Having the same GUI/IDE is fantastic and will make transistion easy for anyone already using mikroE compilers.

some thoughts...

1. Interrupt code tool, fantastic idea which will really help speed up the first steps.

2. No COFF file generation?

3. Can't run mikroC pro and PIC32 at the same time. But only if PIC32 is started first. There is no problem with running dsPIC and PIC32 regardless of the start-up order.

4. During first install, it would be great if the various options (mikroprog, etc) could realise that the same revision level is already installed.

5. found that i can click for an IDE menu option (file, edit, view, etc) and all i get on the screen is the menu box outline. I have screen capture if you would like to see an example
Best Regards

Mince

- Out thoughts exactly :)
Mince-n-Tatties wrote:2. No COFF file generation?
- We are considering ELF or COFF support.
Not planned for this release.

- We have noticed this issue.
It will be fixed with the very next PIC compiler release.

- Nice suggestion, added in ToDo list.

- We did not experience such behavior.
Does this happen every time, or there is some sequence of steps to follow in order to reproduce it
What OS are you using?
Capture would be appreciated.

Thank you for the feedback.

XP pro SP3

1280x800 screen res

can't make it happen every single time, but i simply clicked on a menu item heading and found that i was presented with the outline (note that i had to click the menu item. i.e. this was not the result of mouse over).

mikro just keep in mind that the ICD2 is absolute and that the existing COFF file generation
does not work stable with ICD3 or the Real ICE !
I have tried with dsPIC 30 now on 2 projects unsuccessfully with RealICE and as you know the
realIce has many nice features such as trace,Logic Analyser ect which the mE ICD does not support
however with Real ICE and COFF file programming the Hex file works ok debugging works some
instructions are not seen in the file by MPLAB and in the watch window variables are never updated
we still have not sorted out the COFF file problems in our mikro compilers ,

Hi,

@Mince-n-Tatties,
I have tried this on my computer and also couldn't reproduce this issue.
We will monitor this behavior and act accordingly.
Thank you for reporting this.

@p.erasmus,
We will investigate this issue thoroughly and fix it as soon as possible.

Regards,
Filip.

We are in testing phase of mikroICD with dll , it should be available from release few weeks from now.

COFF is not planned for this release.
