Some issues in PM v2.00

#1 Post by Dany » 07 May 2011 21:03

Hi,
I saw some PM related problems in v2.00:

in the PM v2.00:
1. when starting up the PM the tooltip is always shown, even after unchecking it.
2. libraries with only the .mpas file present (no .mcl) are not taken up in the package (they are at least not visible in the IDE's lib manager)
3. Talking of missing .mcl files: the keys "Rebuild all MCL's" and "Rebuild missing MCL's" seem to do nothing. One of them shows a dos screen with a lot of output, but there are no .mcl's added to the package at hand after it finishes.
The other one performs no action at all it seems.
4. For unclear reasons: more than once (so, on a fairly regular basis) an "Error in application". I did send a few reports to mE.
5. Refuses to install a package if the first lib in it has no .mcl file (seen once, not investigated further if this is actually true, anyway deleting that first lib solved the problem: the package could be installed).
6. After deleting a library: no PIC types (filter) view any more.

in the mP IDE:
7. After uninstall of a package in the lib manager all libraries of the current project are unchecked. Ok again after "refresh" in the lib manager.
8. Wrong libraries are shown (P16 libraries in a P18 project and vice versa) in the lib manager. In my case I had a package with all P16 libs, and one with only P18 libs. Sometimes the same lib names were present in both.
9. Sometimes "Uninstall package" works only after a 2nd or third try.
10. Seen again: 2 packages removed in stead of the selected one only.

:?

p.s. srdjan: the IDE remarks were seen using the new mpPic.exe file you sent me (thanks by the way :D ).
Kind regards, Dany.

Here 2 screenshots about PM problems:

1: Refusal to install a package (all libraries in it were allowed for P18... processors) :

mP was not started up at that moment. The package was "saved" in the PM before the install attempt.

2. Crash when trying to close the PM after above refusal  :

After restarting the PM I could install the package that was refused first. :D

Another remark on PM v2.00: when re-installing a package with a number of libraries deleted in it, those libraries are still visible in the IDE's library manager. This means the package is not removed before the new version is installed.
Kind regards, Dany.

A additional remark:
Apparently different installed packages cannot have the same library name in them. When choosing such library in one package it becomes checked in all packages in the mP IDE.

Is this indeed a restriction?

Thanks in advance.
Kind regards, Dany.

This is probably IDE problem, nothing related to the Package manager.
It is on the bug list and in future releases will be resolved.
Thanks for pushing the issue.

Indeed, most probably. The mP IDE does no know from which package a library comes.

Thanks. :D This issue could be a problem if a users wants to use 2 packages (e.g. from different providers in LibStock) with an equal named (aliased) library in them.
Kind regards, Dany.

Everything is ok but the crashing thing is unusual.
