Let's make project 01 - SMS home alarm system

Let's make project 01 - SMS home alarm system

Image

As of this weekend, we are starting with a new idea called Let's make.....
We wanted to make a set of interesting projects every week, or even more often,
to demonstrate how you can easily build useful devices with mikroElektronika boards in a matter of minutes.

First project we have made is a simple SMS home alarm system.
We presented the idea and included schematics and photos of connections,
and also provided the source of the examples written in
mikroC, mikroBasic and mikroPascal compilers.
Read more about how the device operates in the project's page.

If you like this project and want to make your own version of it at home,
we are offering you all the boards used in this project in a bundle with a FREE SHIPPING.
Get your own kit now, and start experimenting!

Have a great weekend!

Very smart idea! Congratulations....
But, in your Pascal Example, there is no use of the USB-> PIC board (in terms of software). Looking at the board itself, I only could find the bootloade (another very good idea), but no example on the usage of the board (I mean, a uP program that uses the USB/HID to comunicate with the PC). Where I can find an example?
Thanks
Jose

Hi!

@BriBis
Are you doing requests?
We're always open for new ideas. What did you have in mind?
Also, we're planning to add an inquiry to the Let's make page about the user's project wishes.

@joseLB

There are USB HID Examples distributed with our PIC compilers.
Some of those examples are written for PIC18F4550 MCU which shares the same datasheet with the PIC18F2550
so you can easily port them to PIC18F2550 MCU.
Nevertheless, you gave me a good idea for the next Let's make project (involving the USB communication).
:D
Thanks!
Best regards
Slavisa

The best idea since pic32 compilers.
Is there a new "flow"? :D

I guess its good to add LCD and key pad, so you can give access to user to enter mobile number in device.
:) I hope this is good idea !!

Hello,

I know nothing about micro pascal, or compilers or any of that stuff. Can I order this and make it work? I am a DIYer, but this area is new to me. Are there directions for say, putting in which phone # I want it to call? Can someone that has completed this project do a little log on the setup? I am also running a mac, will that matter for setup?

Power to the peaceful,
Ryan

Hello,

Yes this is easy to implement.
Just change your phone number in source and recompile the project and everything will work fine.

It is easy to set it up.

Our development tools support Windows Operating Systems and you will need some kind of virtual machine or computer with Windows platform.

Best regards.

I do not own any of your software. Will I have to purchase a software package to program the device?

Hello,

This project can be compiled under demo limit of our compiler.
So you will be able to change phone number and program it with bootloader.

Best regards.
