IrDA2 Click Board Comm's

#1 Post by uic_engineer » 29 Jan 2015 22:09

Test Hardware Setup:
1. PC running terminal emulator s/w configured to 9600,8,1,N and None for flow control.
2. USB to RS232 converter (3.3V)

Test Method:
From the terminal emulator, we wish to type "A" and receive "A" back using 2 IrDA2 Click boards.
The baud rate jumpers are still set from factory B2=1, B1=0, B0=0. Should be 9600 according to manual.

Logically the "A" will travel by wire from the PC Tx pin and be received over wire into board 1 Rx pin.
Board 1 will optically transmit "A" and be received optically by board 2.
Board 2 will transmit "A" by wire out of the Tx pin and be received by wire on the PC Rx pin.

Wiring connections:
From ------------------------------------------------------To
USB/RS232 Converter Pin 3.3V -------------- IrDA2, 3.3V (boards 1,2)
USB/RS232 Converter Pin GND --------------- IrDA2, GND (boards 1,2)
USB/RS232 Converter Pin Tx ---------------- IrDA2, Rx (board 1)
USB/RS232 Converter Pin Rx ---------------- IrDA2, Tx (board 2)
3.3V ---------------------------------------IrDA2, EN (boards 1,2)
No Connection-------------------------------IrDA2, MODE
No Connection-------------------------------IrDA2, RESET

I am not sure what I am doing wrong but I don't have any communication. If anyone is familair with
this product and can provide some input as to what the problem is I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Hello,

As I can see from user irDA2 user manual:
http://www.mikroe.com/downloads/get/187 ... manual.pdf

Jumper selection for 9600 baud rate is: B2=0, B1=0, B0=0

Your selection is B2=1, B1=0, B0=0, so baud rate should be 115200 according to user manual.

Regards,
Darko
