mikroc and pic16f1824
Hi boys,
I have a trouble and I hope this community can help me.
I'm working with mikroc pro, pic 16f1824 and pickit3 as programmer.
I'm working in automotive field. Until today I have used pic16f1823 without any problem.
Today I changed it with the powerful 1824 and I met some troubles.
When program ROM exceed 1790 word and/or RAM exceed 72 byte, the device doesn't work correctly.
It doesn't go into the interrupt loop. The device after the initialization seems to be idle.
I need some help please.
Thanks a lot.

since PIC16F1xxx the last families that was added to our compiler,
we are still waiting for samples with which will able to provide 100% support to our users.
In any case, I beg you to send me a project from which I will be able to reproduce issue,
and surely, stay tuned on this topic, in order to receive solution for that error.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Re: mikroc and pic16f1824
Hi!
I found 16F1824 very useful microcontroller and would like to use it, but I think I will not be able to program it.
As it was not supported in 2010 version of MikroC Pro, I installed last version and it works fine when using 16F1824. The only problem is, I cannot find this chip in PicFlash or ProgSuite. Does it mean i cannot program 16F1824 using EasyPIC6, which one i own? I see it has the same pinout as other 14-pin devices, is there any trick to choose another chip in ProgSuite or PicFlash and just program it with appropriate hex file?
I actually don't have chip at home yet, so I can't try, but would appreciate any suggestions.

Re: mikroc and pic16f1824
Hello,
The reality is that the chip is technically supported in mikroProg, but has been disabled in the drop down list.
The reason for this is the lack of samples which are needed in order to test the programmer.
In direct contact with Microchip we have promises to get the samples, but in last three months we did not get any of three required by you, but other devices have been delivered.
Also, Digikey and other suppliers do not have the chip in stock, which makes our hands tight.
The option to program this device will be enabled as soon as we get the chip physically and test the implementation.
Regards,

Hi,
Thanks for the answer. So all I have to do is to wait for MikroProg update, which I hope won't take very long time.
Btw, they have 310 pieces in stock at Farnell, that is also the way I found this chip.
EDIT: I realized MikroProg is a programmer, not a software as i tought it first. So does it mean EasyPIC6 still will not support 16F1824 even when using ProgSuite?
Best Regards,
Alex

Re: mikroc and pic16f1824
Hello,
This new chip will be supported in drop down list by mikroProg Suite very soon.
But since PIC16F1824 has new programming sequence, EasyPIC6 will not be able to program it.
Regards.

Hi,
I was afraid the answer will be negative. Hope I will find the solution when I need that chip. Thanks for the answer anyway.

Re: mikroc and pic16f1824
Has support for this chip (PIC16F1824) been added to PICFlash2/Mikro Prog Suite? I need this support to start testing code for a time-sensitive project.
MikroC Pro v5 compiles the code but I can't program and debug it.

Re: mikroc and pic16f1824
Hello,
mikroProg supports this chip, and in next release of mikroProg Suite it will be available in the drop down list.
Thanks for patience.

Hi,
We are working on supporting this MCU, as soon as we add it it will be available on our web site.

Re: mikroc and pic16f1824
I was given the impression that this MCU's support was already built in the MikroProg software and it just needed to be made visible/enabled.filip wrote:Hi,

Is there any definitive time by which this would be available in the programmer?
Re: mikroc and pic16f1824
Hi,
Unfortunately, I cannot give you any precise date at the moment.

Re: mikroc and pic16f1824
Half a year passed and still no support for 16F1824?
I'm currently using PICkit3 to program 16F1824 but it's a major PITA because I'm forced to use protoboard which is already overpopulated with analogue part of circuit.
C'mon ME guys, just enable that damn chip in MikroProg...

Loe,
I have to agree with you. I specially bought the programmer just before xmas to do a little project on a board with a 24F192GB206 which was mentioned as being supported on the website. When the programmer arrived it wasn't supported. Then promissed me a new release of the programmer software in January. It's now March and still nothing
