Measuaring pulse (IR)

Im trying to measure a pulse from a sony IR remote, i was thinking to use the ccp module in capture mode, but i dont know if its the best way to do it because i have never made something in IR. Im using a tsop1140 to decode de IR.
Any ideas are welcome. thx!
