Using EasyPull with Raspberry Pi?

#1 Post by Schorschi » 28 Mar 2017 05:59

I am looking for an easy way to implement external pull up/down resistors with a Raspberry Pi. This is to ensure GPIO state on boot of Raspberry Pi are in a known state, not floating. From what I read about the EasyPull board this would seem like a great solution to my need. Thoughts?

Hello,

It should be perfect for what you want to do.
My advise would be to get 2 headers soldiered on and then use some female-to-female jumper wires to connect the desired pins on the PI.
Only thing you need is to decide on the resistance you need. While bigger values ensure less mistakes, you should consider the transition speed, which gets faster with lower resistances.

1K is a minimum value under which you shouldn't go, while 10K provide a great speed/safety ratio. Our EasyPIC v7 boards for example, use 4K7 resistors...

Hope this helps.
