(Solved) Color Click (Only 3.3V? Or (3.3V and 5V?))

#1 Post by MaGiK » 11 Jul 2015 08:34

Hello there :D
There is a typo in either the webpage of the color Click or its user manual :?

1- The last line of the color Click webpage (that is linked below) says that this click works only with 3.3 volts.
http://www.mikroe.com/click/color/

2- While the last line of the introduction section of its user manual (that is linked below) says that this Click can work with either 3.3 volts or 5 volts.

I'd really appreciate any feedback on this matter
Thank you so much for your time :D
Best Regards

there is a typo in our user manual. Thank you for reporting this.

So, Color Click board is designed to use 3.3V power supply.

Hello Biljana Nedeljkovic :D
I've just completed a veeeeeeery long search in your Click boards list

Basically, I was visiting the webpage of each Click and its user manual looking for ones that mention different power supply values.
Fortunately, There are not any of those :D

I did find that some webpages of Click boards don't mention if that Click uses 3.3 V or 5 V power supply, but it was always mentioned in the user manual :D

Now, I have a question about the 3.3 V Click boards
1- You see, for the majority of them (And I believe this is the right way to do it), you guys mention that it uses 3.3 V, and the 5 V silkscreen label on the Click board is replaced by (NC) (No Connection), and this is great :D

2- However, for some of them, you guys mention that it uses 3.3 V, but the 5 V silkscreen label on the Click board is still present!
Could you please explain the second case? Are those typing mistakes? Or are you trying to tell us something?

By the way, this also happens in the reversed way as well, I mean for some Click boards that work only with 5 V, the 3.3 V silkscreen label is still present on the Click and not replaced by NC :?

Thank you so much for your time. It's very appreciated :D
Best Regards :D

Hi MaGiK,

thank you for being so dedicated to our forum and our products :)

If the Click board uses 3.3V, there should be the logo for 3.3V on it, and that means the Click board doesn't use 5V.
There should be NC instead of 5V on the silk in that case, but its possible it's only typo mistake.

Anyway, we always explicitly indicate to which voltage our Click boards work.

Kind regards,
Biljana

Hello Biljana Nedeljkovic and thank you so much for your time :D
Also, thanks a lot for your detailed explanation. It's very appreciated :D

In case you are interested in my findings during my search, then here they are below:
There are four types of issues that I found in either the webpages of the Click boards or their manuals or both.

A- The power supply of these Click boards is neither mentioned in the webpage nor in their user manual:
1- FTDI Click
2- SpeakUP Click

B- The power supply for these Click boards is mentioned only in the user manual, but not in the webpage:
1- DIGI-POT Click
2- Adapter Click
3- CC3000 Click
4- Thermo 2 Click

C- The power supply for these Click boards is only 3.3 volts, but the (5V) silkscreen label is still present on the PCB:
1- RS485 click 3.3V
2- CAN SPI Click 3.3V
3- IR-Thermo Click 3.3V
4- Fiber Opt Click 3.3V
5- Proximity Click
6- Color Click
7- Motion Click
8- OLED B Click
9- OLED W Click
10- OLED C Click

D- The power supply for these Click boards is only 5 volts, but the (3.3V) silkscreen label is still present on the PCB:
1- RS485 click 5V
2- CAN SPI Click 5V
3- IR-Thermo Click 5V
4- Fiber Opt Click 5V
5- Alcohol Click
6- CO Click
7- LPG Click
8- Air Quality Click
9- Methane Click
10- Hydrogen Click

By the way Biljana Nedeljkovic, Your products and forum are getting the dedication that they deserve, they are truly amazing :D
My dedication seems larger these days since the college year is over, and I have lots of free time. (I'm an assistant teacher in case you don't know  ).

Best Regards
