No mikroICD with dsPIC33FJ256GP710A (MMB/MikroProg)-Resolved

#1 Post by OT » 13 Jul 2011 06:00

The newly arrived beauty, the MikroProg universal PIC programmer works with mikroICD from dsPIC Pascal with the dsPIC30F6012A; I can stop and start execution on the chip from within the compiler/debugger. However when programmed and connected to MMB with dsPIC33FJ256GP710A through the new MikroProg (using CN1 on the board), when I start the debugger I get an error message about "PIC clock error" and then when pressing OK a new message that "Mikroelektronika ICD hardware not found".

Since it works with the 30F chip I conclude that the MikroProg hardware is OK. The dsPIC33FJ256GP710A chip is listed to be supported for mikroICD. In both cases before compiling and programming I have enabled background debug and from that follows automatically that ICD debug gets turned on in the project settings. As I am not that familiar with the 33F chips and ICD debugging, perhaps I have overlooked something?

I am using version 2.00 of the MikroProg Suite that came with version 5.00 of the compiler.

Hello OT,

First you should check ICD comm channel configuration bits.
For your MMB it is PGC1/EMUC1 and PGD1/EMUD1.

Also this message could appear if there is no power supply on target board during ICD operation.
You can power MMB directly from mikroProg or via miniUSB cable.
If you want to power it from mikroProg you can follow this steps:
Tools >> MikroProg Power Options >> and there you should enable power supply for your board. (Or you can use a shortcut Ctrl+Alt+P)

Best Regards

Thanks, the ICD pins were incorrectly set; it works now after correcting them.
