internal timers of pic

hai all
i don't know any thing about internal timers of the pic...
and i want to make pic frequency counter....
i search on this,,,,, every one uses TMR but i dont know what is this and how to use this...
guide me...
i am using pic16f877 and 4MHZ crystal and MikroC compiler....

Is this a duplicate post to your other question about the fibre optic transmitter ??
There are any number of timer tutorials on the web, this is a good one.
