Thanks Raslan I have seen that one for a long time. but i was looking at making something cooler with a terminal interface, etc... Reading DMX was done in basic and i have a version in pascal also that works.

How much do you know about the DMX protocal... Because its not like a standard uart data packet..

There has been some post on reading DMX and i have done it with some success. And i have seen other like this send out DMX with a 16F84 http://freedmx.com/ With some work yes it cam be done in Basic.. But most people are using ASM because its faster and with DMX you need all the speed you can get......

if your doing short distance like less then 1 foot any cable should work. Having a twisted cable help keep EMI and RF interference down. Keeping your data intact. Thats why when you go longer distance the cable must be twisted in a special way. Hope this helps.

Just looking why do you have 98 in your interupt.. Should that be 99 if your reading all 100 bytes... :?

I havent checked but way about hte word ready is that not a reserved word...

Hmm that could work. What do you think it will do when someone is speaking. Will counting like that register false readings with voice.

How would the uart thing work :? Not shure what you mean.
