Let’s not sugarcoat it – last week was tough. It started as a regular Tuesday morning at MIKROE. We all showed up at 8 AM, ready to release new products, design exciting projects, and do what we love most. But that Tuesday turned out to be anything but ordinary.
MIKROE was hit by a ransomware attack that brought everything to a halt.
What Did That Actually Mean?
We’re not a typical company with a typical eCommerce structure. MIKROE is a development ecosystem with a huge knowledge base for embedded developers.
We release one new product every single day, maintain thousands of ready-to-use embedded projects, and push daily updates to tools like NECTO Studio. So when everything went down, it wasn’t just a temporary outage — it was a complete digital blackout.

TUTORIALS AND BLOG POSTS
Here’s what was affected:
- 3,500+ product pages – with specs, schematics, downloads
- 30,000+ product photos and documents
- Thousands of tutorials, blog posts, and banners
We were offline for several days.
WE GOT EVERYTHING BACK
What We Did to Recover
Behind the scenes, our technical team worked around the clock with cybersecurity experts to restore services safely and methodically.
We owe a special thanks to Amazon Web Services (AWS), who helped us recover critical infrastructure and files quickly and securely.
Security Enhancements
We took this opportunity not just to recover, but to improve. Here are a few key steps we’ve taken:
- Rebuilt affected systems from clean, validated backups
- Hardened access policies across critical services
- Implemented additional layers of endpoint and network monitoring
- Increased the frequency and isolation of our offline backups
- Expanded internal procedures for future incident response
What’s Next
We’re back — and moving forward, at our standard pace:
- New product releases – every single day
- NECTO Studio daily updates – back on schedule

We’re more committed than ever to supporting the embedded engineering community with tools, documentation, and platforms you can rely on.
A Word of Thanks
To everyone who waited, reached out, or stood by us — thank you. And if you're just discovering MIKROE: welcome to a company that builds with heart, bounces back fast, and doesn’t back down.
Let’s keep moving forward.
