July 2016 was the hottest month on planet Earth ever recorded, according to NASA. So even though peak vacation season is over, the sun is still burning in August (globally speaking, over where we are it’s mostly rain these days). Here’s UV 2 click to supplement your own weather station to compare results with NASA.
UV 2 click, like it’s predecessor, measures both types of ultraviolet light. UV A comprises about 95% of UV light that reaches us, but UV B is the one causing sunburns. The board carries a VEML6075 CMOS chip that incorporates a photodiode, amplifiers and ADC. The resulting output (through I2C) is a 16-bit digital value proportional to the intensity of UV.
Another improvement compared to the original UV click is that this chip has temperature compensation capabilities for keeping the output stable under changing temperature conditions. This makes it reliable for long-term measurement, great for data-logging weather-stations.
