An array of light-emitting diodes, a plethora of possibilities with our UT-S 7 SEG R click.
UT-S 7 SEG R click
UT-S 7 SEG R click uses two SMD ultra-thin 2.1 mm LED 7-SEG displays. The displays are driven by the MAX6969, a constant current LED integrated driver from Maxim Integrated, which uses the SPI serial interface for communication.
If you're working on a project that requires representing numerical values from 0-99 seven, our click board is the product you need. Using a seven-segment LED display is the best possible solution for displaying digits. Its working principle is quite simple and inexpensive. Seven LED segments are positioned in a way that forms a specific number and by turning segments on or off the wanted digit is displayed. These display can be seen everywhere, in a form of a clock, a billboard, or a traffic sign - prominent and practical.
Cat’s whiskers detector and a curious phenomenon
LEDs’ go way back – in the year 1907 and include using the cat’s whiskers detector, an antique electronic component which is, in fact, the first type of semiconductor diode. British experimenter, H.J. Round applied a voltage to a silicon carbide crystal and saw yellowish light being emitted. He called this „a curious phenomenon“, now known as electroluminescence, light emission produced electrically.
LEDs have many advantages over incandescent light sources which emit light as a result of being heated. They are more energy efficient, have lower energy consumption and longer lifetime, they are smaller and more mechanically robust.
