6DOF IMU click is back in stock after a brief respite, now with a different chip.
As we add more click boards™ to the ever-growing mikroBUS™ bucket, some fall through the bottom as manufacturer’s stop making particular chips. But we are vigilant to add them back to the top of the heap by updating the design, or in this case, just the BOM.
The new version of 6DOF IMU click has ST’s LSM6D33 gyroscope and accelerometer combo. It fits on the exact same PCB where a Maxim sensor used to sit.
Even though it’s pin to pin compatible, this version of the module has some improvements compared to its predecessor.
The FIFO buffer is 8 KB compared to 512 bytes on the previous version of the board.
Also different, the gyroscope angular rates are now ±125/±245/±500/±1000/±2000 dps compared to ±250, ±500, ±1000, ±2000 dps on the previous version of the board.
The accelerometer preserves the full scale range of ±2, ±4, ±8, ±16g.
The LSM6DS33 IC is also notable for its low power consumption: down to 0.9 mA in normal mode or 1.25 mA in high-performance mode.
Our firmware guys created a comprehensive example that demonstrates the various facets of the sensor, as shown in this video.
