Do you remember the last time you had a crush? The feeling of excitement, the butterflies in your stomach. Turns out some of our users have a crush on MikroE products.
We are here to share their stories.
How a mikroLAB kit brought us together
While scrolling through our social media feed, we noticed a user who was celebrating the arrival of his mikroLAB for PIC XL development kit.
So, naturally, we wanted to find out all the reasons why he is excited. What is he planning to use the development kit for? Where is he from? How do our development tools fit in this story?
Without further ado, here is the full interview:
1. Can you tell us more about yourself and your background?
My name is Sherman. I'm from the small tiny island in the middle of Southeast Asia called Singapore. I come from a software engineering background with a professional career spanning over 12 years to-date. At the current moment, I am managing my very own IT solutions consulting company, which is deeply embedded in the beliefs that we need more consumer-driven technology applications as opposed to the one-sided technology biased implementations. That is one of the very key reasons why many large organizations today are facing key issues with their systems, both consumer-facing as well as internally.
2. When did you first hear about us?
I first heard about MikroElektronika in 2015 while doing my research into the various silicon-based companies as well as companies whose manufacturing boards targeted at research and development.
3. Did you see our "click per minute" series?
Yes, I have seen it. I would love to be a part of the series. Though I might not claim to know everything there is to know about the series, I have come to believe in the brand and the products that MikroElektronika carries.
4. Why did you decide to get the mikroLAB for PIC XL?
I bought mikroLAB for PIC XL because it is one of a complete set of development kits created by MikroElektronika. Among the other competitors that I have researched, I find the mikroLAB for PIC XL to be the best value for money, great in terms of kit completeness as well as with really helpful documentation provided for anyone who is exploring the platform for the first time.
More objectively, I also invested in the mikroLAB for PIC XL because of an existing project that I am working on for a client, which requires that I do my research & development on PIC microcontrollers.
5. What are you planning to use it?
Beyond the existing Research & Development efforts for a project, I hope that I will be able to continue using the kit to explore more and more applications together with the use of any and all available expansion boards and tools for the product.
6. Will our products help you in your future business endeavors?
Yes, MOST DEFINITELY! Speaking as a leader in the field, one of the most important activities in the innovation of technology really is the Research & Development arm. Having a proactive Research & Development arm will enable a company to explore the possibilities of what can be achieved. But beyond that, finding a product, or range of products that can help us accelerate those process and results will also be a huge boost for the whole effort.
One of my goals as a leader in the Internet of Things space here in Asia is to also become a leader in the Research & Development of better Embedded/IoT Solutions. In that space, my goal is to become a MikroElektronika Products Expert and recognized research & development service provider in Asia itself.
7. And last but not least, can you tell us if you have a favorite MikroE product?
Right now, frankly, I would love to have all the XL kits for AVR, STM32 (L), ARM, plus the mikroC & mikroPascal compilers for those platforms. And I would love to get more of the displays, kits, expansion boards to really explore more about the range of products. I don't think I will be able to identify a favorite in particular. I think all the products and kits are going to be really useful and hugely beneficial.
