Main features

Silabs Click Shield is an adapter board for Thunderboard™ family of development kits, from Silicon Labs, with only one onboard mikroBUS™ socket. This way, Mikroe allows its users to add any functionality from our ever-growing range of Click boards™, such as WiFi, GSM, GPS, Bluetooth, ZigBee, environmental sensors, LEDs, speech recognition, motor control, movement sensors, and many more. More than 900 Click boards™, which can be stacked and integrated simply and conveniently, are at your disposal.
Thunderboard™'s family of development kits simplifies IoT and represents a complete sensor-to-cloud series prototyping kits needed to create battery-powered wireless sensor nodes for the Internet of Things (IoT). It includes six onboard sensors, a Wireless Gecko SoC for multiprotocol cloud connectivity, 8MB of external flash for over-the-air updates, and a built-in SEGGER J-Link Debugger. Debugger interfaces to the target kit using the Serial Wire Debug (SWD) interface and ensures easy debugging through the USB Micro-B connector. In this way, developers can create innovative end-to-end IoT solutions from sensor nodes to the cloud and move quickly from proof of concept to end product and develop a wide range of wireless sensing applications.
The Silabs Click Shield has one 20-pins female connector that connects Click Shield through the expansion header (EXP) with any Silicon Labs Wireless or MCU Starter Kit. The Silicon Labs Wireless Starter Kits supports Bluetooth, Zigbee, Thread, proprietary, and various multiprotocol combinations. When using Wireless Starter Kit, it is crucial to make sure that there is no power source present on the Thunderboard™ or that one is not at all connected to the Click Shield. Failure to do so will create power conflicts, and there is no protection against back feeding the onboard LDO or the battery.
The Silabs Click Shield relies on a power supply of the Thunderboard™ development kits. Once you plug Thunderboard™ into the Silabs Click Shield, it will allow you access to hundreds of Click boards™ working with 3.3V or 5V logic voltage level. For checking which Click boards™ are compatible with Thunderboard™, please open our Click Shop filter. Our Click boards™ is equipped with a library that contains functions and example codes for Mikroe compilers available on LibStock, which can be used, as a reference, for further development.
