IR eclipse click, our 99th click board carries EE-SX198, a photo interrupter sensor.
A photo interrupter consists of an infrared receiver and transmitter facing each other, separated by a 3mm slit, engaged in a peek-a-booh, now-you-see-me-now-you-don’t game with each other.
That is to say, the sensor is activated when you obstruct (or eclipse) the beam of infrared that travels from the transmitter to receiver.
An example of real world use would be a printer machine, where a photo interrupter would detect whether the paper is in place.
Likewise you can use it to detect any type of object, infer its position or speed, as long as its thin enough to fit in the 3mm slit.
On IR eclipse click, there’s a indicator LED to show you when the sensor is activated. Your target board microcontroller will be notified through the mikroBUS™ INT line.
