Another third-party development board joins our growing list of boards that support the mikroBUS™ socket.
Avnet's LTE IoT Breakout Carrier is an expansion board. The board has two mikroBUS™ sockets, for Click board™ connectivity. The LTE IoT Breakout Carrier makes system-level prototyping easier by using either the 2nd generation AT&T LTE IoT Starter Kit (USA), or Global LTE IoT Starter Kit (Europe).
You can further expand the functionalities of the board by adding Click boards™. We offer everything a developer could need - WiFi, GSM, GPS, motor control, temperature
Other third-party boards with the mikroBUS™ socket
We have a list of more than 30 third-party development boards that support the mikroBUS™. Read the Learn article to see the full list.
Considering that we offer more than 400 Click boards™ so far (and the number is constantly growing) it is no wonder that the popularity of the mikroBUS™ is expanding.
Our Click board™ manager, Alex, says it's because the mikroBUS™ socket has such a simple concept behind it - connectivity:
"Adding a mikroBUS™ socket to your design is allowing you to instantly append hundreds of Click boards that we have in our portfolio into your product. Allowing your IoT or Embedded Device to interact with the physical world or share information by combining various Click boards. The mikroBUS™ socket is also adding a value to your device by giving flexibility to the base-board for various applications."
Adding the mikroBUS™ socket to your design
Are you planning to add a mikroBUS™ socket to your design?
As long as you adhere to the standard specifications, you are allowed to include a mikroBUS™ socket in your design. The mikroBUS™ logo needs to be clearly marked on the PCB, as well as the standard markings.
If you know of a development board that supports the mikroBUS™, that we have not included in our Learn article, let us know by writing to social@mikroe.com.
