Program a clicker 2 like an Arduino.
Focused on our own releases we neglected to mention that a recent update of ChipKit Core added support for clicker 2 for PIC32. What that essentially means is that clicker 2 for PIC32MX can be programmed with the Arduino IDE.
ChipKit is a software/hardware platform that brings Arduino-style programming to PIC32 MCUs. It used to be centered around MPIDE, a PIC32-compatible development environment ported from the original Arduino IDE. Since the beginning of this year, however, MPIDE has been superseded by ChipKIT core, which is a plugin for the official Arduino IDE.
The support for clicker 2 is possible because the boot-loader host application "pic32prog" has been updated.
Even though it was possible to use click boards with the ChipKIT eco-system before (see the TouchClamp click drum machine), this upgrade eliminates the need for additional shields. The software is free so if you own a clicker 2 you can try it right away.
Yours sincerely,
