RelayClick

#1 Post by Dxmaxim » 01 Apr 2015 07:31

I purchased a number of click boards and so now that I have some time I am giving them a whirl.

Layout / Usability

The PCB is well laid out, meaning that the very small amount of real estate available on the CLICK has been well used.
The edge connectors also improve usability, although keep in mind that 5A can be quite a bit of current to push through the wrong guage or wire that is not rated correctly.

Since there is nothing fancy to actuating a relay, there are only two connections RL1 and RL2 that you need to. RL1 for my uses turned out to be connected to RB2, and this was using the ARDUINO Shield (http://www.mikroe.com/click/arduino-uno-shield/) board and a board of my own design (https://www.tindie.com/products/ZarCraf ... rod_search). The click was connected to socket 1.

After a few lines of code, Relay 1 was clicking away with the LED illuminating as expected.

Pros

Easy and quick to use. The relay is high current for its size which does open possibilities for Home Automation an compact IOT requirements.

Cons

It would have been nice had there been NC and NO, which means that this is basically a switch. But you can get around this so its not a misgiving.

Summary.

It is a great snap in piece, and worked quickly and easily with the application.
