If you need even more precision for driving stepper motors than what you could accomplish with Stepper 2 click, check out Stepper 3 click, which allows you to access individual motor phases separately for very fine control.
The board is driven by a ULN2003 High-Current Darlington transistor array for operating . Similar to previous stepper click designs, there are two ways to bring the juice to power the motor. One is through the click board's own power supply (that's the 5V & GND pins on mikroBUS™). The other is through an external power supply which can go up to 30V. Just connect the wires to the onboard screw terminals.
As mentioned in the intro, with Stepper 3 click you can control individual motor phases which is great for diagnostics. Four onboard LEDs signalize which exact pin is active. In a way this click board can be used as a tool similar to C Meter click as an example.
If you are new to stepper motors, we have a concise but informative introductory guide that explains how they work. After you cover that, proceed to the new article that explains how our own Stepper motor library works (adapted from an open source library). The stepper motor library is a universal library that covers all three Stepper clicks (1, 2 and 3). That's one of the advantages of building libraries for click boards.
If you don't need the explanations, you can download the library directly from Libstock. Get the schematic on the docs page. More details are available on the product page.
Sincerely yours,
