EasyAVR5 prgramming

#1 Post by Soudan » 11 Oct 2007 12:17

Hello,

I just got the new EasyAVR5 development board with MikroBasic.
I am a newbie with the AVR controllers and I try to download one of the demonstration program to the controler (ATMEGA16) preinstalled on the board.
This processor contains a demo program which turns succesively the rows of leds on and off.

The board is connected to the usb port of my PC and is correctly idenified by the avrflash program.

I set to ON the switches PB5 for MOSI, PB6 for MISO and PB7 for SCK (the 3 signals generated by the AVRflash on-board USB programmer.

When I try to read the content of the controller, the red led of the USB programmer turns on , the rows of leds stops to blink but after few seconds, I get an error message :

"Can not synchronize device with programmer"

What did I miss?

Thanks for your help.

Etienne

Did you try to set device frequency in AVRFlash programmer to 1MHz.

I tried ti set the device frequency to 1.0 Mhz
without succes.
I also tried "Cal. Internal RC Oscillator - 1 Mhz" whihout succes.

When you programming MCU you need to turn off all switches on development board. Also set oscillator the same as it been set when you first program your MCU.

Ok but I received this processor as is with the demo program pre-loaded.
I do not know about the settings for this initial programming!
It comes preloaded from factory.

I am having the same problem with mine.I am still waiting for a reply from technical support about this. I looks like a problem with the select signals from the icprog chip to the 74hc4053 chips. Try changing device selection to ATMEGA8 and it will work. Just answer " yes" to the warning. Programmer will be useable but You will not be able to program an ATMEGA8 and other chips in the group. I don't know yet the other issues. Hey this proves its not only me. Anyone else out there?

EASYAVR5

Hi,
I am having the same problem with the easyavr 5 bord.
I ordered the easyavr4 but received the easyavr5. But all the documentation is for the easyavr4 also all the demo files.
And there are a lot of differences for the new board.

Like the LCD is on port A for both data and signal, instead of port D and port A on the eastavr4 board but when I change the demo test to port A it still does not work.

The DS1820 sensor is PB2 and PC7 now instead of PC6,PC7 port
Also the GLCD is changed to the port A.
Jumpers for selecting the LCD type are gone, instead there are now regulators for each of them wich is an improvement.

I also have the problem cannot synchronize when I use t he ATMEGA16, using the ATMEGA8 solves the problem for now

I have an JTAG programmer so maybe that will fix the problem.

I hope they solve the synchronize problem real soon, and that they make a new documentation for the easyavr5 board.

regards

Why there is no info on EasyPIC/AVR 5 boards ? I'm very interested in what's new on those boards.

There are a few differences.
now you can change wich port and pin you want to send to out ports with or without pull up register
before only with port A
So every port has now dip switches like port A
The LCD pin layout is changed, to all on port A for 4 bit mode
the DS1820 can be put on port B2 now
more choices for the MISO and MOSI for the SD slot card
every LCD has its own backlight regulator

And more different AVR types can be programmed.

There is no Voltage reference, that one is gone !
