Connecting GM862-QUAD to PC, using PICPLC16v6

Hi buddies, I have been trying to use Hyper Terminal to test Telit GM862-quad module (gsm/gprs) in vain. The module is on the the PICPLC16v6 dev board, and I am using the max232 circuit on the dev board to connect to my laptop to the gm862. Following is my settings:
1. I removed the microcontroller to that there is no interference
2. I set switches 1, 2, 3, and 4 on the DIP Switch 11 to ON position that the RS 232 module and GM862 module are connected
3. TX on my laptap (pin 3) goes to Rx on the dev board, and RX (Laptop pin2) to TX (dev board). Laptop GND (pin 5) goes to GND on the dev board

I successfully fire ON the gm862 by connecting RC2 pin on the pic socket to any pin with +5V on the board.

PROBLEM.. my laptop detect nothing, I cannot write anything on the hyper terminal.

I'm I doing it in the right way??? What should I do to successfully connect the GM862 to my laptop and use the Hyper Terminal to test the module?

Thank you in advance

Hello,

Please can you tell me more about your connections.
Do you use RX232 board or you use MAX232 connector on the board?

Also it would be very helpful if you could take a picture of the system connected to GM862 module and post it here.

Best regards.

Dear Janko, thank you for your replay!

I am using the PICPLC16v6 development board. it has a max232 ic on board and I connect the wires to it as stated above through connectors CN5 and CN4. and set the dip switch 11 as stated above. The schematic of the board can be found on this link: http://www.mikroe.com/downloads/get/868 ... c_v101.pdf and its picture and other info can be found at: http://www.mikroe.com/picplc16/

The Telit GM862-GSM/GPRS sits on the board as you can see.

Regards

vic

Hello,

You can not use connector CN4 for communication with Telit module.
For this purpose you should be using MAX232 board and connect it directly to UART pins on CN13.
