I think this has been already suggested, But how about inline routines, I have 8 Encoders to control, so routine is exactly the same other than a parameter changes. This would be nice as it would reduce amount of code typed, It also would help for interrupts because I use a mutex to stop re-entrance (Check a variable) and hence could inlude these routines
