Request for a new Spectrometer Click board

#1 Post by Stuartk » 15 Aug 2014 21:19

Please have a look at this new micro spectrometer module:

These new micro spectrometers would make a wonderful addition the click board lineup. It would be much more flexible then a color sensor as you can get a full light frequency/Intensity graph for the tested light source.

It's pretty cool how they work by spreading the spectrum out over a CMOS linear image sensor using a micro-diffraction grating.

Regards,

Stuart

Hi,

Thank you very much for your suggestion.
I will pass it to our hardware developers and they will certainly consider it.

Best regards,
Marina

Just as a follow up, I've been in contact with one of their representative and I can tell you theses sensors are way too much expensive for a click board .

Hi Serge,

I came across it web surfing, but I don't know how much they cost.
What did they say it went for?

Stuart

The model you are refering too is one of the less expensive and it is detailed around $250 us.

I agree it's expensive. I'd still buy it though.

Perhaps they will see it as an opportunity to seed new previously unconsidered markets and give ME a bulk discount.

You never know....

In case anybody wants to purchase one of these units for experimentation there is a group buy presently underway in order to purchase it at a somewhat reduced cost:
