Problem programming Data on PIC16F882

#1 Post by grgsaliba » 20 Apr 2015 08:43

I have found a problem ( I think it is a bug in mikroprog software) with writing EEPROM data to a PIC16F882. This chip has only 128 bytes EEPROM but opening the DATA view window it loads 256 bytes of data.
If I modify the EEPROM data through firmware and then read it back using mikroProg, the EEPROM data is duplicated re-starting at address 0x80 to fill the 256 bytes memory space. If I try to load EEPROM data from hex file it will only fill the 0x00-0x7F range (as it should) but trying to program this to the chip results in a Programming Failed message. I am assuming that the mikroProg software trys to verify the 0x80-0xFF range, expects 0xFF values but finds the duplicated data and fails. I confirmed this by manually duplicating EEPROM data in the DATA window and programmign succeeds.

Anyone encountered this ?

Hi,

Indeed there is a problem in mikroProg Suite regarding DATA size of the PIC16F882.
I pass this behavior to my colleague in charge and he will try to correct it as quickly as possible.

Thank you very much for pointing on this problem.

Best regards,
Marina

Hi George,

Unfortunately, still there is no news regarding this problem, but I reminded my colleague in charge for mikroProg about it,
and he will try to fix this problem as soon as possible.

Best regards,
Marina
