Microchip PIC Product Range

#1 Post by Bill Legge » 31 Jul 2015 02:03

A few thoughts about a market opportunity for MikroElektronica:

1. At the moment, Microchip seem to have made some poor decisions on software development.
2. They have two huge software libraries - HARMONY for PIC32s and MLA for the rest.
3. Despite pretty good tutorials these libraries are very unpopular and almost unusable for most PIC users.
4. Microchip graphics development software is remarkably difficult to use - The Mikro VISUAL TFT is a much easier to use.
4. Microchip have made a good job of the IDE MPLABX.
5. So - have a good look at what Microchip have got wrong and 'fill the gap.'

I think there are a lot of PIC users who are pretty fed up with the difficulty of HARMONY,MLA and Microchip graphics and are looking around for an alternative.
Additional development resources in the PIC area (compilers, Visual TFT, IDE) may win you a lot of new customers?
