Overview
PSoCprog2 is a fast USB In-Circuit Serial Programmer 2.0 ICSP for PSoC microcontrollers.
Very fast, on-board USB 2.0 programmer with a simplified driver installation.
The programmer is specifically designed for In-Circuit Serial Programming (ICSP).
Description
When connected to a prototype device, the PSoCprog2 programmer becomes IN-SYSTEM programmer.
With ZIF socket, it becomes a standard programmer used for a large-scale production.
One of the possible ways of connecting PSoCprog2 to a microcontroller is via the IDC10 connector. Refer to figure on the right. You just have to place a 2x5 connector between the microcontroller and other on-board components. By embedding the PSoCprog2 connector you will be able to perform the PSoC In-System programming.
A flat cable provided on the programmer ends with an IDC10 female connector. When creating a target device, the appropriate 10-pin male connector with 2.54 mm spacing between pins should be placed on it. The connector pins should be connected to the microcontroller pins. Their position varies depending on the microcontroller's type and package.
USB 2.0 ICSP (In-Circuit Serial Programmer)
With complementary software, the PSoCprog2 programmer represents a great tool for all those working with Cypress PSoC MCUs. The microcontroller is connected to the PSoCprog2 programmer via 6 lines, three of which are VCC, MCU-VCC and GND, while others are PGC, PGD and RST. Unlike programmers whose operation is based on bootloaders and which need to place a part of their memory at a bootload program's disposal, PSoCprog2 programs MCUs externally so that the entire memory is available to the programmer.
Windows® Certified Drivers
Drivers for the programmer are Microsoft® Windows® XP, Windows® Vista and Windows® 7 certified. The Windows certificate is a proof that the programmer supports mentioned Windows operating systems and is immediately recognized by the system, which guarantees correct Plug and Play functionality. Driver certification provides users with a wide range of benefits such as stable functioning, the ability to install and delete drivers without rebooting and compatibility with future versions of Windows.

The PSoCprog2 programmer supports a wide range of PSoC microcontrollers. Newly MCUs will be supported by a new version of PSoCFlash software that is updated regularly. Here is a list of microcontrollers supported by the PSoCprog2 programmer:
