Overview
R2R DAC Board is a development tool for R/2R-network 8-Bit Resolution Digital to Analog Conversion.
Board features R/2R-network and 450 uA, 5 MHz Rail-to-Rail Op Amp MCP6284.
IDC10 connectors enable easy connection. Ready-to-use examples are provided with the board.
Description
The R/2R ladder DAC is an 8-bit Analog to Digital Converter. An 8-bit value from the microcontroller port will be converted into an equivalent analog voltage by means of the R/2R resistor network. The R/2R ladder DAC makes use of only two resistor values, but it requires 2N resistors to implement an N-bit conversion. The resistor values are in the ratio of 1:2. The R/2R DAC board output is provided with an MCP6284 operational amplifier used as a buffer in order to drive loads with current consumption of up to 20mA.
Examples
Examples provided with this board will show you how to connect the R/2R ladder DAC to the microcontroller easily. Each example contains a detailed description of the relevant program including comments. All these examples can be downloaded from this page as well.
